Faryn Blaze Designs

As I mentioned here, I recently finished a photo project for my fabulous and talented friend, Faryn Johnson. Faryn recently graduated from the Art Institute of Dallas and asked me to take some photos of her design work for her online portfolio. I was intimidated at first but I actually think the shots came out really well. I’m no professional, but working with my friend was inspiring and quite frankly the perfect way to spend a beautiful autumn morning. You can see these photos and some of Faryn’s other work at www.farynblaze.com…. not just a creative slogan, by the way… Blaze is actually her middle name since she has beautiful red hair. Doesn’t that just scream “branding” to you? This chick needs her own company!

Bedroom Makeover: Before and After

{BEFORE}

My bedroom has been in the midst of a makeover for the last several months (which I mentioned here), and while I think it will always be somewhat of a work-in-progress, I’m finally content with its current state. I found this bedding on sale at Anthropologie, repainted an antique metal medicine cabinet and rearranged some of my furniture to make room for another unique bedside table. Overall, I love the new, more mellow color scheme and that the space, although small, is still functional. My next project will be to paint the wall behind my bed a soft gray (I like Benjamin Moore’s Pelican Gray and Valspar’s Bonsai).

{AFTER}

{New accessories for my bedside table}

{Repainted medicine cabinet for a more pristine look}

{Thrifted suitcases make up the second bedside table}

{New curtains for a lighter feel}

Kitchen Inspiration

Acrylic stools and bright flowers via "Style At Home" blog

This time of  year I always get a bit antsy. I crave change, traveling and new experiences. I think this sudden urge to  re-do my apartment is largely due to the fact that I now work from home and can’t help but daydream about new decor and designs. I found this collection of pictures via Sterling Style and was instantly inspired by the feminine details, crisp white finishes and colorful accents. The kitchen is my favorite room in any house and any of these would inspire me to cook fresh, healthy meals with the most beautiful and color-rich food.
